I came to Noah for help with shoulder pain and immobility. It was a slow deterioration with no specific injury and quite confounding as all my tricks weren’t working. I tried yoga, stretch, foam rollers, massage, osteopathic, acupuncture. I tried a lot. Noah’s keen understanding of physiology in motion was finally what started to shift the situation. He listened, provided reassurance, shared underlying causes and how we would address them, over time. I saw improvement immediately and have gained not only full use and pain free range of motion back in the shoulder but learned to inhabit my body in a whole new way, allowing for more freedom and capacity. Noah is the real deal. I recommend him in the highest.

I went to Noah at Portland Integrative Physical Therapy, because I was dealing with recurring hip and lower back discomfort for two years that was preventing me from playing competitive sports and would inhibit my ability to move in certain ways. I had previously gone to another PT and a bodywork therapist, but the problem was recurring and their methods seemed to work for a while but never stuck long term. Going to Noah is truly a specialized experience--he worked to find solutions that worked for me and my life. His approach gave me a better sense of my own body, how it moves, how it sits, and tools to use when I sense misalignment. Not only is my pain under control, the exercises he provided have given me better range of movement/ability to strengthen and I feel strongly equipped to deal with any discomfort should it ever come again. I highly recommend Noah!!

I had chronic back pain for years and went to the chiropractor every single week before I started seeing Noah. I also thought I had chronic plantar fasciitis in my right foot and had seen every specialist imaginable and never saw any improvement. After working with Noah, he was able to help me fix both problems and teach me techniques to stop the issues from coming back. Since seeing Noah, I haven’t had to visit the chiropractor once and have saved thousands on co-payments. I highly recommend him for any PT needs, there’s no one else out there like him in my experience.

I went to see Noah hoping to find relief from a variety of recurring issues. I'm rapidly approaching 50 and have over 30 years of degenerative disc disease in my lumbar spine. While that condition is pretty manageable, I was repeatedly afflicted with pain and dysfunction on the right side of my body - things like upper back pain, shoulder impingement, elbow tendonitis, knee tendonitis. Finding minimal and only temporary relief with traditional techniques and chasing my tail endlessly in the foam-roll-stretch-resistance-band-exercise loop I was intrigued by Noah's description of Resilience Training and hopeful that it might help me return to a very active lifestyle.
I've seen Noah approximately 12 times over a 7 month period and from the first appointment have been feeling progressively better, to now feeling great. Noah was able to simplify things for me with a manageable and evolving set of drills that address the root causes of my previous complaints. I can honestly say that the pains that brought me to Noah are either significantly improved or no longer present. Better still, the improvements I've made to my breathing capacity have allowed for better overall joint alignment, decreased muscle tension, and feeling more comfortable and capable than I thought would be possible for me at this point in my life.
Noah's knowledge, ability to read a body in motion, and exceptional attention to detail (including personalized instructional video follow-ups) are just part of what set him apart from anyone I've ever worked with. Added bonus, Noah has a great sense of humor and the appointments are really fun.
If you want to actually get right, learn some interesting and extremely valuable concepts and techniques, and you have the gumption to do a little bit of work on your own - make an appointment with Noah. You won't regret it and you'll never look at physical therapy the same way again.

I came to Noah after 8 months of PT following an ACL reconstruction. I was frustrated at the lack of progress after a full commitment to PT and was losing confidence that I would make a full recovery. Within the first visit to Noah I knew I had made the right decision to come to him. He takes a wholistic approach. I’m really blown away by the progress I’ve made in 10 sessions. Highly recommend.

"Highly recommended! I went in for a shoulder issue that has since improved dramatically. Asks thoughtful questions and really gets to know you before prescribing anything."

Well, being a newly retired teacher was certainly something I was looking forward to, but when my aching hips began to interfere with my favorite physical activities of hiking and walking I was deeply concerned. I tried every yoga hip opener I could find, rubbing balms, and periods of inactivity to try to alleviate the pain, but it only worsened. I began pondering if I was going to have to begin looking into hip replacements. Thank goodness it was highly recommended that I give Noah Harrison a try. Noah's keen observational skills, his "spot-on" wisdom of the human body, his compassion, and his jovial manner, made coming to each session a delight. Noah also makes videos of the exercises he suggests at each session for one's home practice, which I found incredibly helpful, making sure each exercise is done "legally" to achieve maximum benefit. I must be candid that my first two sessions with Noah left me a tad bit perplexed, wondering if he might have forgotten that I was coming for my hips, for most of the exercises placed emphasis on breathing and arm placements. However, one finally gets that "ah-ha" moment, understanding the integrative wisdom of the human body that Noah is imparting. It also goes without saying that Noah very specifically selects exercises in a very progressive manner, but it is then up to the client to make a non-negotiable commitment to do the work, for the one thing Noah lacks is a magic wand, even though he comes pretty darn close to having one. I am pain free after my five to six months of therapy, and am totally amazed at the "before and after" results.

Can't say enough about this place and Dr. Noah! I was an active 30-something - jogging, spinning, etc - until I woke up one day in acute back pain unable to get out of bed. I was suddenly unable to use my body without needing help and/or experiencing unbearable pain. I spent 8 months trying different treatment modalities with limited success - I tried chiropractor, massage therapy, acupuncture. I would have some relief after a treatment and then return to pain. I was still in near constant pain with regular daily activity, had trouble sleeping, and was unable to be active in any meaningful way. Seeing my lack of progress, my massage therapist recommended Functional Physical Therapy and suggested Dr Noah. His approach is unlike anything else I had experienced, very much focused on body mechanics and the foundation of how we move and function in our bodies. What I thought was a random injury out of nowhere, I learned, was more likely the result of longstanding patterns. I was immediately given drills to relieve my pain throughout the day and strategies of how to perform the activities that were still most uncomfortable (such as getting into or out of the car, putting on my shoes, and laying down) without pain. Over time, the strategies became new learned behaviors and the pain overall significantly decreased. Once the pain was manageable, Dr Noah started to help me build strength and learn how to work out again in a safe way. I learned about the impact of using my body unevenly and how to counteract it so I can continue to build on my progress. Noah sees and understands the body in a unique and holistic way and his gift lies in giving his patients the knowledge, skills and support to reach their goals. Noah's intention is not to fix you, it is to teach you what you need to know to fix yourself and maintain your health long-term. I highly recommend Dr Noah to anyone who has stalled in their treatment, has chronic pain or mobility issues, or just wants to understand and improve their body mechanics and overall functioning.

I have been seeing Noah for 2 and ½ years. When I first came, I had overall body pain and a frozen shoulder. I had been to massage therapists, MD’s, chiropractors, acupuncturists and other PT’s. None of these other specialists made me feel better.
At first, Noah gave me simple breathing exercises with no weights. Soon my overall body pain was less persistent. My frozen shoulder took the usual course for that condition and took a while to unfreeze. All the while, Noah gave me exercises to work around the frozen shoulder and to increase range of motion. As soon as his exercises made me strong enough, Noah started adding free weights to the exercises.
Now I see Noah to update my interval weight training workout. Noah always finds ways to advance my progress and tweak my form.
Noah has changed my relationship with and my understanding of my body.
Noah is much more than a PT to me. He is also my physical trainer, breath coach and friend.
BTW, I am 66.

Noah is awesome and I'm back on track with my fitness and lifestyle. I definitely recommend him to anyone who has had little success in the past with other PTs!
